ABOUT MY TRIP EXPERIENCE:

"The GMB trip to Nicaragua gave me a new appreciation for healthcare, not just as a service but as a sign of hope to those who do not receive the quality care that is available to us in the states. We often take for granted the healthcare that is so readily available and as future providers we need to remember that it is our mission to aid any and all individuals we come across, especially the underserved.

The entire trip was great, and everyone from WesternU really made myself, Gabe, and Dr. Mumford feel welcome. The kids were so fascinated by our stethoscopes that maybe if we're lucky, we inspired some future doctors, PAs, or nurses. Outside the clinic, Riki's lovely album of sleeping people really let us see a side of us no one wants to witness. Ever.  Either way I gathered some amazing memories, and miss the entire group from GMB."

Recapturing THE BRIGADE -
Arrival at Managua Airport, Nicaragua. DAY 1 and pumped!!!

Me, Dr. Mumford, and Nazia after a rewarding, heartfelt day serving the villages of San Gabriel.

This was at San Gabriel, the clinic site of our last day.  We saw a grandmother with six of her grandchildren, and we saw and treated each and every one of the little kids! Most of the kids were healthy, and were seen as routine, preventative care, but it was rewarding to work with them nonetheless. They were very happy and grateful, and thanked us for all our help. We were sad to leave that day.

Me and some of the other brigaders stuck around Nicaragua to tour the city of Granada for a few days.  This was during one of our adventures - learning to work pottery. Intense labor!
