Meet Brigader Freesia Parekh

Meet BRIGADER:
      Freesia Parekh

Western University of Health Sciences, Medical Student Year 2

ABOUT MY TRIP:

What did this GMB trip in Nicaragua meant or do for you? Nicaragua refocused me and put everything back into perspective. Being there and coming back, I once again realized why God has called me to become a doctor - which is to serve others.

What was your favorite or funniest moment that you can highlight? One of my favorite moments was when the children would come to me with such innocence. They would simply just want a "chimbomba" (Spanish for balloon in Nicaragua) and they would be so happy!

Recapturing THE BRIGADE -

Full of excitement as we await our eventual arrival in Nicaragua!

Sorting medication on the first official day of the brigade with our classmates. In the picture : Me, Matt Robinson, Jason Kajbaf, Diana Yu, Scott Buzin, Laura Murphy

Matthew Robinson and Freesia Parekh, both second year medical students, practicing their Spanish by taking a history and vitals from a Nicaraguan patient.

We built showers and latrines for this particular family during the public health brigade. They were extremely sweet and took a picture with us in front of our finished product!
A plaque cemented into the wall of the latrienes we had built during our public health brigade.

We had an awesome time hiking the waterfalls of Jinotega on our last day! In this picture: Matt, me, Jason, and Scott
